TOPIC: The National Science Foundation is inviting postdoctoral fellowship applications to enable recent recipients of the doctoral degree to pursue research and training in three selected areas and with special goals for human resource development in biology. For FY 2012, these three areas are
(1) Broadening Participation in Biology;
(2) Intersections of Biology and Mathematical and Physical Sciences; and 
(3) National Plant Genome Initiative Postdoctoral Research Fellowships.

DEADLINE: October 11.
FUNDS: Fifteen awards annually, which offer $60,000 in year 1, $63,000 in year 2, and $66,000 in year 3.
ELIGIBILITY: Only individuals may apply. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who either are currently graduate students and plan to earn the doctorate prior to the start date, or have served in a position requiring the doctoral degree for no more than 12 full time months since earning the degree.
